CAPTAIN AVATAR

Okay, you may ask, where did you come up with the handle "Captain Avatar"? Well it began almost 20 years ago ,1980 to be exact. While vacationing at my grandmother's house in Oklahoma I saw an animated series called "Starblazers". It was a Japanese Sci-Fi cartoon featuring a Japanese battleship, the Yamato, that had been converted to a Spaceship. I won't go into further detail since there are other sites dedicated to the series. That same summer I got into CB Radio and I used the handle of "Captain_Avatar" or "CA" for short. I was fairly active on CB from then till about 1989. In 1986 I got online with my old Commodore 64 and 300 baud modem and inhabited several BBSs in Oklahoma City,OK and Omaha, NE areas. I also spent a year on a couple of fledgling online services, Microlink in OKC and Q-Link (the forerunner of AOL). From 1989 to 1994 my handle saw little use except for some BBSing in Iceland where I was stationed and  pilot names in some of the variuos games I played. Captain Avatar came online again in the chat rooms when I signed up on Compuserve in 1994 and then over to AOL in 1995. After AOL in 1996 and beyond I used Captain Avatar in IRC, ICQ, and all the various online games I played (Descent, C&C, I-76, Total Annihilation, etc...).

As you can probably deduce from the above photos I spent some time in Uncle Sam's Canoe Club, aka, The US NAVY. I was in for four years and got to serve on the USS Wisconsin, BB64 and also was stationed at NAS Keflavik, Iceland.
